There is a serious fear that unemployment is here to stay. New generations and their parents, together with all Western World governments are weary of the raising number of jobless youths. What make matters worse, are the long-term unemployed since those people are the least employable of the unemployed.
Although the worry continues, we observe that employers are still hiring. How is that related to stagnated numbers of unemployment? The answer is in the ratio of new generations who enter in the employable terrain. Large, Medium and Small size companies continue to have requirements, as on one hand there is some, albeit moderate on average, growth from businesses, and on the other hand there is always a natural churning due to a) redundancies, b) mothers who don’t return to work, and general c) leavers who move on to new careers.
Therefore the question arises: Where do all these Large, Medium and Small size enterprises going to fill in their employee gaps from? From the long-term unemployed, from experienced professionals who are looking for higher salaries, or from new blood who can bring innovation and creativity into the organizations?
Perhaps this is why the number of Internship, Student Placement, Apprenticeship and Graduate Jobs is increasing? And guess who the employers will hire first?
